Harold Elwood "Bubby" Aston, 81 years old born in Glen Dale, WV, the son of Harold Logan and Anna Virginia Lyons Aston, passed away on Sunday, February the 1st, 2026.
Preceding him in death are his parents, infant son Michael Elwood, sister Mary Andenora, and brother-in-law James Andenora, mother and father-in-law William and Tessie West, sister-in-law Barbara Updegraff, brother-in-law James Updegraff, brother-in-law Bill West, and sister-in-law Pam West.
He is survived by his wife Linda West Aston, his children Julie (Brett) Hawkins, Dennis (Amber) Aston, Raquel Powell, and his bonus daughters, Pam Goddard and Sandy Yocum. His grandchildren Shana (Aaron) Wood, Dustin (Morgan) Hawkins, Brielle (Emil) Crouse, Alexis (Kimani) Aston, Hunter (Delaney) Aston, Mackenzie (Michael) Powell, KieAnna Powell, Connor Powell, Travis (Courtney) Goddard, Kayla (Lucas) Walker, Coty (Ali) Lantz, Chloe Yocum. As well as 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many many friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was employed at Garvins Dairy, Fostoria Glass, Lenox Crystal, and retired from United Dairy.
In his younger days, he was a bowler, fisherman, and hunter. He was a member of the Marshall County Pony Pullers Association, where he received the Sportsmanship Award in 1983. He won the Heavyweight Pony Pulling Championship three years in a row at the West Virginia State Fair.
He raised Belgian draft horses for 30 years. During that time Bubby and his farm, Mountaineer Belgians, became well known in the Belgian industry. Later on, it was goats and chickens. He loved everyone and showed it with his smile and his unforgettable laugh.
Bubby was a graduate of Cameron High School Class of 1962. He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers and Steelers fan. He was a member of Ash Avenue Church of God and the Pleasant Valley Store Coffee Club. Bubby, Linda, and many friends and family attended Jamboree in the Hills for twenty plus years, making friendships for life. His wife, Linda, was his best friend and soulmate; loving each other unconditionally.
Services in his honor will be held on Thursday the 5th of February at Ash Avenue Church of God in
Moundsville, West Virginia. There will be a visitation from 11 am to 2 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm. The family invites those who attend to wear their Mountaineer gear.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bubby's honor can be made to Ash Avenue Church of God.
Bubby was a joy to be around with his optimism and happy go lucky attitude. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
