Donna Wells Obituary

Donna Mae Wells, 85, of Ellisville, IL passed away August 18, 2024 at her residence. She was born on August 4, 1939 in Walnut Grove, IL to Harley and Leona (Peterson) Chapman. She married Paul Wells on February 3, 1989 in Ellisville; he survives. Also surviving are three children Robin (Kenny) Sharp of Prairie City, IL, Russell (Melissa) Carnes of Prairie City, IL, Rena (Denny) Myers of Sperry, IA; three stepchildren Stephanie (Brent) Bentzinger of Bushnell, Gregory Wells of Yarmouth, IA, David Wells of Longmont, CO; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; siblings Larry (Rita) Chapman of Bushnell, Evelyn (Merle) McMormick of New Philadelphia, and Shirley Weaver of Pendelton, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Donald, Ronald, and Jerry Chapman, brother-in-law Ronald Weaver, grandson Steven Carnes, and great-grandson Kendall Sharp. Donna drove the bus for B-PC Schools for several years then went to nursing school and became an LPN and worked at Cottage Hospital as a surgical nurse in Galesburg for several years. She also worked at the Prairie City nursing home. She later moved to Iowa and worked at the Fort Madison Community Hospital for several years as a surgical nurse before moving back to Prairie City to work in drug testing before retiring. Donna liked to fish, dance, go to the casino, visit her family, and travel. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday August 21, 2024 at the Bushnell Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to MDH Hospice or the family.
