Charles Edward Loomis, Jr.

Charles Edward "Bud" Loomis, Jr., 77, of Wonder Lake, passed away on September 12, 2025. Born January 8, 1948, in Waukegan, Illinois, Bud was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam with the 1st Logistical Command and the 8th Infantry Division. He carried with him a lifelong respect for his fellow soldiers and a deep commitment to remembering the sacrifices of those who served.

Bud loved the outdoors, whether it was long days fishing in Canada for walleye, caring for his lawn from the seat of his riding mower, or simply enjoying the company of his beloved dogs. He had a quick wit, a big laugh, and a way of making people feel at ease.

Though he was proud of his service and the life he built, it was his family who held his heart. His love for them was both fierce and tender, leaving them with memories of laughter, strength, and unwavering support.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Corey Loomis and Stephanie Loomis, with her husband Sean Smith; his sister, Donna Jean (Bruno) Rusanowski; and his great-nephew, Wayne Rabner, Jr., along with other nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Loretta Loomis, and his brother, Kevin Loomis.

Bud was a soldier, a husband, a father, a brother, and a friend. To all who knew him, he was truly a man whose life made a difference.
