Madonna Jean Stoike, known by her friends and family as Donna. A cherished matriarch of her family passed away on April 1, 2025 in McHenry, IL. Born on March 22, 1939 in Chicago, IL, Donna's life was a combination of love, adventure, and quiet strength, woven with the threads of family, friends and travel.
Donna's journey began as the beloved daughter of Eugene and Marie Torrey, whose memories she held dear to her heart until she was reunited with them in passing. She was a guiding light for all who knew her. As a woman of faith, she embodied the virtues of love, compassion and humility.
The love story of Donna and her devoted husband, Art, was one of enduring partnership and mutual respect. Donna's role as a mom was a testament to her capacity for love, a role she valued above all else.
Together they raised a family that would grow to include their loving children Karen, Lisa with her husband Albert, and Bill with his partner Nicky.
Donna's family continued to grow with the arrival of her grandchildren: Christopher, Gibsyn, Brody, Alyse and her husband Austin, Darien, Dylan, Jenna, and William. Each grandchild is a jewel in the crown of her life, and she delighted in their achievements and milestones. The family circle expanded further with the birth of her great-grandchildren, Bennett and Eloise.
A woman with an adventurous spirit, Donna enjoyed traveling. She visited Europe twice, where she enjoyed meeting the people and learning about their culture and the history of their country.
As we bid farewell to Donna, we reflect on a life lived with purpose and kindness. She was a gentle soul and her departure leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but her memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
Donna's life will be celebrated in the hearts of those she leaves behind, especially her loving husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and grace. Her story does not end with her passing but lives on through the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
May her soul find peace and joy in the everlasting embrace of those who preceded her, and may her spirit continue to shine brightly as a guiding star for us all.
A celebration of life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church 6000 Broadway Rd, Richmond, IL 60071, on April 19, 2025, with the visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a funeral service to follow.
