Eugene Burchi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home on Dec. 2, 2025.
Eugene "Gino" Burchi, aged 76, passed away peacefully in his home in Round Lake, IL on November 30, 2025 surrounded by his wife and four golden retrievers.
Gene was born on December 18, 1948, in Chicago Illinois, to Genevive and Clemente Burchi. He was the beloved older brother of Ralph Burchi. Gene was an avid outdoor enthusiast, who lived life the way he wanted. His fiery temper was legendary, as was his generous heart. He was known for his spicy Italian cooking and love of country music.
Gino's admiration for the outdoors and adventurous spirit led him to Colorado's Rocky Mountains, where he spent time fishing, hunting on horseback, and riding bulls. Gene's experiences were as vast as his love for his family and friends. He was willing to lend a hand whenever a friend had a need.
In the last years of his life, Gene invested his time, energy, and passion for golden retrievers into the development of Godfather Goldens. This small business bred blue-ribbon winning puppies who grew into beautiful show dogs and loving family companions. Gene kept many of these dogs as his personal companions. Delilah, Princess, Pinky, and Millie remained faithfully by his side in the last months of his life.
Gene was preceded in death by his mother Genevive Burchi, née LaFontaine, and father Clemente Burchi. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years Marcia Burchi, née Calkins; his son Ted Burchi (Rebecca); his grandchildren Riley Burchi, Kiara Morey, and Anna Delaney; his brother Ralph Burchi (Mary) and nieces Nikki Pant, née Burchi and Jenny Burchi.
A celebration of Gene's life will take place on December 5, 2025 with a gathering from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. and Service at 5 P.M., at Justen's Funeral Home at 222 North Rosedale Court, Round Lake, Illinois.
The Burchi family would like to extend our special thanks to Katie Hart, Gene's caregiver; as well as Allison Anderson, RN, Lisa, CNA, and Desiree, MSW of Integrated Hospice for the compassionate care they provided in the last months of Gene's life.
