BUFORD EARL "BRUCE" CHIASSON, AGE 78
And a resident of Franklinton, LA passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon September 12, 2024 at his home. Bruce was born on July 21, 1946 in Sarusa, West Virginia to the late Claiborne Chiasson and Juanita Samson Chiasson. He was a very proud U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Bruce lived in Gretna, LA and Harvey, LA most of his life where he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and Belle Chase Naval Exchange before retiring to his "dream farm" in rural Washington Parish near Franklinton in 2000. He loved acquiring and tending his farm animals then showing them off to all his wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bruce enjoyed watching New Orleans Saints and LSU football, spending time with his family and aggravating his wife Linda every chance he got. He will be deeply missed by numerous friends and his beloved family, who will never forget him.
He was the loving husband of Linda Navarre Chiasson for 58 years. He was the father of 3 children and their spouses Kenneth and Caren, David and Julie, Stacy and Peggy. Bruce was the loving grandfather of Brock, Brittny, Danyelle, Bethany, Kirsten, Mariah, Jacob, Brian and several other grandchildren. A great-grandfather to 7, with the eighth due in December. Also survived by a sister in law Carol and he was an uncle and great-uncle to so many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother Johnny, mother in law Enola, brother in law Dan and godchild Michelle.
Visitation will be at Victory Baptist Church (19548 McCain Road #1, Franklinton) on Tuesday September 17th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 1:00 pm Tuesday with Bro. Gary King officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Louisiana Army Reserve Honor Guard following the funeral.
