Obituary of Buford Lee Dennis
Buford Lee Dennis, age 80, of Wimauma, FL, passed away at his home on December 9, 2023.
Buford is survived by his loving wife, Wanda, brother Thomas Peter Henry, sister Bernice Slade, daughter Shelley Dennis, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Brothers and friends.
Buford Lee Dennis was born and raised in Manchester, GA., on August 6, 1943. He completed early education in Manchester and Detroit. He graduated high school from Boggs Academy in May 1961. Boggs Academy was a high school for African Americans founded in 1906 and located in Keysville, GA. Buford was subsequently accepted into and began his college education at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL While at Tuskegee, Buford joined the Lambda Epsilon chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in Fall 1962. Buford graduated from Tuskegee University with a bachelor's degree.
Buford's professional career began in Georgia and held positions in the Banking Industry in California and Colorado. He began working in Denver, CO in 1982 for Citicorp's Diners Club and remained there for 28 years until his retirement. Buford ended his career at Diners Club in the position of Vice President, Credit Policy.
Buford's passions included tennis, skiing, and riding his motorcycle. But, he had no greater passion than his love and affection for the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Buford tirelessly volunteered for and took on various roles and leadership positions in the Fraternity. Over the years Buford received extensive awards and recognition from each of the Omega Psi Phi chapters to which he belonged, especially from his Denver chapter Chi Phi as well as his Tampa chapter Epsilon Mu Mu. Buford was most proud of achieving Service Awards and his coveted pin for 60 Years of Devotion and Service to the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in 2022.
A celebration of Buford's Life Memorial will be held Tuesday, December 19th, 2023, at the Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, FL 33573.
