Bunruon Nhek of Selma, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Baptist Hospital South in Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 74.
He was born in Battambong, Cambodia on August 9, 1949 to the late Chum Nhek and the late San Chy Nhek.
He was a former professor of mathematics and physics.
"Bunruon spent the next 35 years working with great friends and family at Hollowick in Manlius, NY where he retired in 2016 and relocated to Valley Grande, AL to spend retirement with his wife."
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Tepy Nuon Nhek; children, Virak Nhek, Linda Nhek, Davina (Brandon) Smith; grandchildren, Aralyn Nhek, Amara Nhek, Everett Nhek, Oliver Nhek, Avi Atticus Nhek-Barron, Nova Rue Nhek-Barron, Leo Nhek-Barron and Asher Smith; and siblings, Vuthy Nhek, Saroum Nhek, Sareth Hak, Youkthach Nhek and Vanthon Lee.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Final care has been entrusted to the Selma Funeral Home of Valley Grande, Alabama.
