Burdette Chapel

Burdette "Bud" Chapel, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 84.
Bud was born on September 10, 1941, in Warren, Pennsylvania, to parents Leroy Chapel and Vera Lorraine Blume. He grew up in Warren and graduated from Warren High School in 1959. Following his passion for learning and determination to succeed, Bud went on to earn an Associate in Arts degree from Centralia College in 1968, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the University of Washington.
Proudly serving his country, Bud spent four years in the United States Air Force before embarking on a distinguished career. He worked as an Aeronautical Engineer for Boeing and later became Senior Vice President of Capital Development Company (CDC), where he dedicated 30 years of leadership and innovation.
Bud's life was filled with interests that brought him joy and connection. He loved golfing, cheering on his beloved Huskies and Seahawks, and never turned down an ice cream dessert or a warm cinnamon roll. A true enthusiast of life, he enjoyed bike riding, spending time at the gym, and appreciating a good beer with friends.
Those who knew Bud will remember him for his generosity, compassion, and unwavering determination. He was deeply family-oriented, self-reliant, and always cared for those around him.
Bud is survived by his son, Robert Chapel; his grandchildren, and Alaysha Dyson. His love, wisdom, and presence will live on through his family and all who were fortunate to know him. Bud will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
A funeral will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 5930 Mullen Rd SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
