Jake Aichele Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt Cremations & Funeral Services on Jan. 22, 2026.
Jake Aichele, Jr was born July 6, 1934 in Robinson, ND to Jacob and Amelia (Eckhart) Aichele. He was the eighth of thirteen children. That same year the family moved to Touchet, Washington where he loved growing up on the farm. At the age of 6 he began milking cows before going to school.

After graduating from Touchet High, Jake proudly served in the US ARMY, stationed in Korea from 1953 – 1955. He attended the University of Washington where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. Jake was employed as a Controller at HT Rea Farming Corp. in Milton Freewater for 27 years before his well-earned retirement in 1999. He is fondly remembered by his co-workers for his integrity.

In May 1980 Jake and Joan met at church. A friend suggested that they have a dinner and invite Jake. Joan made Chicken Cacciatore. Jake and Joan were married in September 1980 and the meal forever became known as Chicken Catch a Jake. Together they both enjoyed their many grandchildren, who all learned to swim in their pool. His favorite pastime was traveling in their "Happy Van" as it was lovingly called, to local campgrounds and National Parks. He and Joan shared a love of gardening and planting lots of vegetables to share with family.

Jake is survived by his wife, Joan Aichele, daughters Sandy and Marie, sons Tom and Steve, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brothers Ervin and Larry.
