Mr. Richard O. "Dick" Aichele, age 82, of Millsboro, Delaware and formerly of Saratoga Springs, New York, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 12, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hillside, New Jersey, a son of Eleonore Emma Pflueger and Eugen Richard Aichele, he was a graduate of Hillside High School, Class of 1961. He was one of 2 children. Prior to settling in Millsboro, Delaware, he has previously lived in Saratoga Springs, New York for 26years.

He was a veteran of U.S. Army with the 7th Army division and the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Sergeant where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and earned Expert Rifle badge. He was posted in various commands including Germany.

Prior to retirement, Dick as a free lance business writer at Foursquare Enterprises in Saratoga Springs, New York.

He enjoyed writing, photography, train travel, WWI history, and time spent with family.

In addition to his late parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Eugene Ernst Aichele.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Maureen Ann O'Connor Aichele; his two sons, Richard M. husband of Diane Aichele and Daniel S., husband of Paula Aichele,; his three grandchildren, Kayleigh Lytle, Matthew Aichele and Christopher Aichele

Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Williams Funeral Home and Burial Services.

Service plans are private as per Dick's final wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Richard's honor be made to St. Jude's Hospital.

We knew Rich and Maureen from when they lived at Carlton hollow. They were very friendly people and Rich had many interesting stories about his train trips and history of Saratoga State park. Sincere condolences to Maureen and family. Thanks for being good neighbors. Rich and Peggy McNally.
