Burke LaMont Godfrey

1951 - 2023

Burke LaMont Godfrey, 71, passed away May 14, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 18, 1951 in Logan, Utah the son of Burke and Alene Godfrey.

Mont graduated from Sky View High School In 1969. He met his forever sweetheart Susan Forsgren their junior year of high school. Their first date was Junior Prom and they have been dancing ever since. After high school Mont went to Salt Lake Community College for a year and Susan went to Ricks College for a year. They got engaged in March of 1970 and married

September 18, 1970. The next four years were spent between Pasco, Washington and Richmond Ut. While Mont attended Columbia Basin College where he studied Argi-Chemical Business. During this time Mont enjoyed the Richmond Riders, and he and Susan became dance directors in Richmond and continued when they moved to Clarkston. After moving to

Clarkston, Mont was a part of city council for many years, eventually becoming Mayor from 1998 to 2001. One of Mont's biggest accomplishments was his dry land farm that he worked with his dad, son, and grandson. Most of his days could be spent on the tractor or combine or hauling loads in the semi. He was an extremely hard worker and took pride in work and in the family that he and Susan created. Mont is survived by his wife, Susan of Clarkston, Utah; Daughter Monica (Mike) Allred of Smithfield, Utah; son Jason (Kotie) Godfrey of Clarkston, Utah; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; mother Alene Godfrey of Smithfield, Utah; 3 sisters, Glenda (Ed) Abbott of LaVerkin, Utah, Joy (Galen) Wilson of Soda Springs, Idaho, and Toni Smith of Franklin, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his dad, Burke Godfrey and his in-laws Don and Ruey Forsgren.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Logan Regional and Makay-Dee Hospital for their great care of our husband and dad.

Funeral Services will be Saturday May 20th at 12:00pm at the Clarkston LDS Church, 25 East 100 South, Clarkston, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday May 19th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Webb funeral home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho, and Saturday 10:00-11:30am at the Clarkston LDS Church before the service.
