Burnett Thomas passed away Monday, July 12, 2021.
He was born March 6, 1942, in New Orleans, La. He married Floria Thomas at the age of 21, and they have two sons.
Burnett has been a baptized Jehovah's Witness for over 50 years and enjoyed talking to others about Jehovah. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Burnett believed in the Bible's hope and promise of where God will soon "wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more" (Revelation 21:4). He also believed through God's Kingdom, God will soon do away with all of the suffering and pain that mankind experiences today.
All of you dear friends and family know that Burnett enjoyed making people smile! Whether it was Burnett telling you something to get you to laugh; or perhaps by telling you one of his jokes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his mortgage and architectural professions. Burnett also liked to go running and found it invigorating.
Burnett was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Thomas and Bessie Taylor.
Burnett looked forward to a time when John 5:28, 29 will be fulfilled; when "those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice, and come out"; so that his family would be reunited on earth once again.
Survivors are Burnett's wife, Floria Thomas; their sons, Michael of Charlotte, and Erik (Denica) of Mooresville; four grandchildren that he loved dearly, Marlon (Autumn), Tatyana, Talaya, and Myles; brother Perry Washington (Fran) of Lexington, N.C.; two nieces, Danielle Howarth and Robin Cox; nephew, Chad Washington; and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to thank those who helped care for Burnett during his stay in the hospital. The Atrium Health University Medical Center 5th and 6th-floor nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Housekeeping, Dr. Rafael Torres Fajardo and the team of doctors for their care and compassion. Also, the family would like to thank the Ingram Mooresville Funeral Home for its
services. They would also like to thank you dear friends and family for your love, thoughts, and many prayers during this difficult time. They love you all!
The Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 24, at 2 p.m., via a Zoom link. Please contact the family for the link.
