DELMAR - Burnetta Larrow Parker, age 96, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday November 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She passed just two days after Thanksgiving, when her house was filled with laughter, family, friends stopping by, and an abundance of her favorite foods-mostly desserts.

Born on July 28, 1929, in Fairhaven, Vermont, Burnetta fondly remembered her hometown: the beautiful marble homes, maple syrup season, fall foliage, and the apple orchards that marked her childhood. She often shared stories from her teenage years, especially the time she met her husband of 45 years, Robert Parker. While reminiscing about their courting, we asked her what she wore on her first date. She replied, "Snowpants," remembering their time skating at the Fairhaven ice rink. She remained connected to the Green Mountains through her kind and considerate nephew, Earl Parker, who visited her often and was always there to support her.

Burnetta and Bob married in June of 1951 and later relocated to Waddington, New York. They loved their land, the St. Lawrence River, camping trips, visits to Ottawa, and special outings with friends at the local Elks Club. After their children were grown, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and Canada.

Burnetta had many jobs, including a position as dental assistant at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, where she was known for her strong work ethic. Despite working full-time, she made time to care for her family-gardening, canning vegetables, crock pot family dinners, stacking fire wood, and camping. She and Bob were ahead of their time in caring for the environment, planting trees, composting, recycling, and conserving water. They both liked to say, "It takes a lot of work just to keep your life simple, but it's worth it."

She had a quiet presence with a sharp wit. Burnetta found joy in reading, word games, puzzling with her grandchildren, and watching Hallmark shows. Her greatest pride was her marriage and the family life they built together. She truly believed that she had it all, and the only way to honor how lucky she had been was to give back to others. For 16 years, she volunteered with her daughter's nonprofit, Grassroot Givers, and helped with countless mailings and projects for other local nonprofits. Her behind-the-scenes generosity helped so many. Through her volunteer work she made many lifelong friends.

She is survived by her three children and their families: Bruce and Susan Parker, Brian and Cheryl Parker, Roberta Parker and Steve Sandler. Her grandchildren brought her many laughs and joys: family celebrations and dinners, stopping by with flowers, milkshakes, and cider donuts, or sending pictures, gifts and note cards from out of state. She loved to hear about their milestones, new homes, pets, job updates, and travels. Her great-grandchildren filled her room with artwork, sports medals, stories of dance recitals and school achievements.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Zabinski and her staff, the St. Peter's Hospice team, and our dear family friend Susan d'Oelsnitz, whose weekly visits brought comfort, laughter, and music to Burnetta's last days.

A celebration of Burnetta's life will be held in the spring, a time when her family from across the country can gather. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethlehem Senior Projects at 445 Delaware Ave., Delmar, NY 12054 or Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Boulevard, Albany, NY 12208. Both organizations were amazing with their kindness and care, helping us fulfill her wish to be home with her family. Arrangements by Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Albany.
