Burton F. Root, age 90 of Two Rivers, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, March 2, 2024 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Burt was born in Fond du Lac on July 29, 1933 to Elmer and Dorothy (Bennett) Root. He graduated from Two Rivers Washington High School in 1952 and also attended Carthage College. He served his country as a member of the United States Marines from 1953 to 1955. On September 28, 1963, he was united in marriage to Judith K. Gauthier at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Burt was employed for many years with the Formrite Company of Two Rivers and later worked for Eggers Industries until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, having played in several leagues; and was enshrined into the Two Rivers High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Judie Root; one sister, Tammy Ricks of Two Rivers; special friends, Jill and Dana Jaeger; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy Root; two brothers, Lyle and Arden Root; two sisters & three brothers-in-law: Dorothy (Tony) Kalupy, Jeanette (Robert) VanHouten, and Pat Ricks.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th Street, Two Rivers. Rev. Dr. Colie Bettivia will preside at the service, with entombment in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside honors will be accorded at the funeral home, immediately following the funeral service.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Thursday morning from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Two Rivers High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Judie would like to express her sincere appreciation to the staff at Aurora Medical Center, especially to Dr. Jay Salmon and the nurses on 3rd floor for the wonderful care given to Burt. Special thanks also to Pastor Colie for her comforting words and visits; and to the caregivers of Aurora at Home Hospice for their kindness and support.
