Ada, OK resident Shaunda Kay Root passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 in Ada at the age of 56. Shaunda was born on April 8, 1969 in Midwest City, OK to Floyd Vernon and Janet Gene (English) Rains. She grew up in the Maud area. She enjoyed her work as a nurse's aide for home health and nursing homes. Shaunda married Larry Root Jr. on January 21, 1987 in Phoenix, AZ.
Shaunda is survived by her husband, Larry Root Jr.; son, Levi Root; daughter, Jessica Root; brother, William Rains; five grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
Shaunda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Daniel Rains.
Shaunda was a friendly person who loved her family and family functions. Her favorite color was pink. She loved everything country. Shaunda greatly enjoyed being outdoors gardening and kayaking. She was also a shopper. She treasured her pets to include dogs, cats and chickens.
Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
Graveside services will be at 1:00p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Bethel Cemetery in Glencoe, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
