BYRON GERALD LARSON, age 80, of St. Peter passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Byron was born on October 13, 1945, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Gordon and Lillian (Pederson) Larson. He attended Elbow Lake High School and graduated with the Class of 1963. He continued his education at North Dakota State University and Moorhead State University, and graduated from Bemidji State University with the Class of 1969.
On April 17, 1971, Byron was united in marriage to Carol Johnson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.
Throughout his career, Byron worked at EF Johnson in Waseca, Larson Boats in Little Falls, Melroe Bobcat in Lisbon, North Dakota, and Spokane, Washington. He also worked at Homecrest Industries in Wadena and for the City of Wadena in Planning and Zoning.
Byron enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, teaching firearm safety, and spending time with his family, neighbors, and friends. He was active in his communities and was a member of the Jaycees in Elbow Lake, Little Falls, and Lisbon, ND. He held membership at West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church and later St. John Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. He was also involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Elks Club, Rotary, Knob Hill Sportsman’s Club in Wadena, and served on the Maple Terrace Board in Waseca.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Larson of St. Peter; daughters, Kathryn J. Olson of Sauk Centre, Kristine M. (Dean Pertle) Larson of St. Peter; grandchildren, Hannah Olson, Haley Olson, Stella Ewert, Nathan Olson; sister, Lois (Gary) York of Los Angeles, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lillian Larson; and sister, Jean Kocher.
Memorial service of Byron will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
