Byron Light Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wiley Funeral Home - Granbury on Sep. 15, 2025.
Butch Light, 53, passed away on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, in Granbury, Texas.
Byron George Light (Butch) was born on November 9th, 1971, in Weatherford Texas. He was raised in Weatherford, and spent the majority of his life in Cresson, Texas.
Butch had a deep love for Trucking, Farming and Ranching. His younger teenage days were spent in hay fields hauling hay while learning strong values as a young man. He was a larger-than-life character that lived life on his own terms, he was a truck driver by trade and was always the first person his friends could call on if they ever needed any help. Although a towering presence, and someone whose impact was undeniable; underneath all the gruff and hard exterior, he was a gentle giant. He met the love of his life Tara, at the age of 16 in High School. Their love for one another was undeniable. Butch had a work ethic like a (team of rented mules), like he would always say. And any time Tara wanted to spend with him, she would generally end up working right alongside him.
Butch loved to be behind those 18 wheels, running between those two white lines. He was the top driver within 2 weeks of being at his last trucking job and stayed at the top frequently. Butch also had a way with collecting antiques, collectables, and finding the value in old broken things. If anyone needed something that would be hard to come by, Butch Light would have it.
Anyone who knew Butch, knew he did things without the concern of the opinions of others. So much so that when he did them, it was unforgettable. Butch married Tara on leap year, February 29th, 2012. And he told those who asked, "Why on leap year?", so that he only had to buy an anniversary gift once every 4 years. The sense of humor and belly laughs are something everyone loves about him and won't be forgotten. Butch and Tara have one daughter, Morgan Lee Light-Kieselhorst.
The bond between the three is something that happens once in a lifetime. Unconditional love for each other is something they all share.
But no matter what title or name Butch had, whether it was husband, father, friend, or coworker; the name he cherished the most was "Poppa".
Butch has two granddaughters Hattie and Allie, but most everyone knows them by the nicknames of Butterbean and Buttercup.
Butch was the best Husband, Father and Poppa his girls could have ever been given. From the first time he held both girls in his big, warm, safe arms the bond could never be broken. Butch was up every hour with feedings, burping's and left changing the diapers to Nana. Both of Butch's granddaughters first words were "Poppa".
Anything his granddaughters wanted, they got. So much so, he has left both girls in the goat business.
Butch was a strong, kindhearted, genuine man. His family and friends know he is in the presence of God. For he said, "he knows where he will be going when his time comes, he has been saved, and baptized, because it took two grown men to baptize him". He leaves behind family and friends that will always have such wonderful memories of him and stories to tell about Butch Light.
Butch is survived by his Wife: Tara Dawn Light, one Daughter: Morgan Lee Light-Kieselhorst and Son-in-Law: Cody Aaron Kieselhorst, two Granddaughters: Hattie Grace and Allie Faith Light. With many family members and friends.
Butch's wishes were to be cremated with no service, but to have a Celebration of Life with his family, friends, favorite food and old country music at his home in Cresson, Tx. The family has decided on October 25th, 2025, for the celebration. The family also wants to thank you for the outpour of love, memories and support you have shown them.
