Byron Stover Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Starks & Menchinger Chapel - Saint Joseph on Jan. 3, 2026.
Byron "Bill" Price Stover, 93, of Paw Paw, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at his home in Paw Paw, MI. He was born September 26, 1932 in Decatur, MI to William "Byron" and Pauline (Price) Stover.

After graduating from high school in 1950, Bill enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War as a heavy equipment operator. After the service, he had a long and fulfilling career as a operating engineer and was a member of the Local 324 Union for 65 years. He was an avid gunman, owning and operating a local gun shop in his earlier years. If he wasn't working, you could find Bill tinkering or fixing anything and everything, riding his motorcycle, hunting, or enjoying his favorite country western music.

Bill will be missed by his wife of 72 years, Joyce (Keyes) Stover, whom he married on March 4, 1952 in Albuquerque, NM; his children, Dave (Martha) Stover, Tim (Cookie) Stover, Stephen Stover, and Sandy (Larry) Hillring; his grandchildren, Kim (Michael) Sinke, Scott Stover, Darren (Kathy) Tyria, Luke (Emily) Stover, Stephen (Amanda) Stover, Joshua (Kristen) Meints, Jeff Hillring, John (Jackie) Hillring, Joseph Hillring, and Thomas Hillring; and 20 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Danny Tyria; two sisters, and one brother; and his parents.

A private burial has taken place. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in the spring. Memorial contributions may be given to the VFW – Post 6248, 560 N. Phelps St., Decatur, MI 49045.
