C. Cecil Soapy Martin, 80, entered into eternal rest on August 25th, 2022, at his home in Scipio.
C. Cecil was born May 3rd, 1942, in Washington, Indiana. He was the son of Lena (Stafford) and Jim Martin who preceded him in death. He married Connie Reed on September 29th, 1984, in Scipio; she survives.
C. Cecil was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School. He loved fishing, arrowhead, and fossil hunting, exploring caves with his brothers and cousins, mushroom hunting, and watching the leaves turn in the fall. He enjoyed watching Colt s football, NASCAR racing, and westerns. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
C. Cecil was in the National Guard, he had many jobs in his life including firefighter and worked maintenance for Benzel s Dry Cleaners and Lear.
Surviving with his wife Connie, are his children, Mark (Debra) Verba of Morgan Hill, California, Tonya (Arnie) Steber of Olney, Illinois, Rochelle Shelly Tom) Stearns of North Vernon, Rory (Melody) Martin of Freetown, Kristi (Dwayne) Dickey of Tennessee, Katy (Anthony) Martin of Elizabethtown, and Kelly Watkins of Butlerville; grandchildren, Christopher, Aaron, Marcia, Cindy, Amanda, Mieka, Tia, Kennedi, Jaycee, Jesse, Donovan, Clarissa, Tasha, Austin, Jameson, Anthony Peanut Kathleen, Dallas, Magnoila, and Emberly, thirty-one great-grandchildren; brothers, Lee Martin, Bill (Brenda) Martin, and Tom (Karen) Martin, several cousins, friends and family.
He was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Art, Charles, and John Wayne Martin; brother-in-law, Olin Reed; sister-in-law, Penny Martin, Judy Martin; grandson, Chad Stearns and son-in-law, Robert Marling.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with William Gerhard officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made in honor of C. Cecil through the funeral home for expenses.
