McClain Funeral Home, Inc. - DenverC. Jean Runkle McCoy, 91, Mexico, passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at her residence.
Born November 16, 1934, in Frenchburg, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Kelly McCoy and Sadie Day.
Jean grew up in Kentucky and moved to Indiana when she was fourteen. She had worked many places over the years including Sherrill Corp., Electro-nite, and Market Street Grill. She enjoyed going to garage sales, drinking coffee with friends, writing and sending greeting cards, and baking cookies.
Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had a strong faith in the Lord and attended Mexico Community Church. To everyone she was a friend, and not a life that knew her was untouched by her love.
Survivors include six children, Rick (Linda) Runkle, Floyd Knobbs, Indiana; Sherry (Hans) Hess, Radcliff, Kentucky; Jim (Rosa) Runkle, Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Michelle Runkle, Kokomo; Lisa McCoy, Wabash, Indiana; and Regina McClain, Kokomo, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Runkle; granddaughter, Kelly Miller; and brothers, Fred McCoy, Oscar McCoy, Claude McCoy, Kelly McCoy, and Bob Hatton.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Mexico Community Church from 11-1 pm. Please join the family at the church for a time of fellowship as her children celebrate the loss of their greatest friend and advocate.
