C. Lane Morgan, 82, husband of Kathryn B. Morgan, of Seneca, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at his home.
C. Lane Morgan was born in Seneca, SC on December 11, 1941, the twelfth of twelve children of the late Dewitt O. and Grace C. Morgan. He graduated from Oakway High Scholl in 1960. He was an avid sports enthusiast participating in football, baseball, softball and basketball (team captain). He loved his dear Clemson Tigers. He earned his private pilot's license early in life and enjoyed flying very much.
In 1968, Lane opened Morgan Insurance Agency in Seneca and it was there he spent a long career in risk management, life and benefits business. Through the years, he completed many educational courses in an effort to always be the best professional he could be. He sold his business in 2016 and fully retired in 2017. During his insurance career, he served as president of the Oconee Independent Insurance Agents and was a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina. He was listed in "Who's Who in American Business and Professionals." He was a recipient of the Ballenger Award, presented by the Seneca Rotary Club, recognizing distinguished business persons.
Before becoming a member of Seneca Baptist Church, he was instrumental in the founding of Grace Baptist Church in Seneca, where he served as Trustee and Sunday School Teacher for many years.
In addition to his wife, Lane is survived by his son: Bradley Brown Morgan (Denise) of Big Canoe, GA; grandchild: one very special granddaughter that was his heartstrings, Sally Caroline Morgan of Louisville, KY; brother: J. Leon Morgan of Seneca, SC; sister: Barbara S. DeFoor of Seneca, SC; sister-in-law: Dorothy Morgan of Millington, TN; numerous nieces and nephews and other family whom he also loved.
In addition to his parents, Lane was preceded in death by his brothers: Woodfin, James, Wallace, Rayford, Major J. and Jesse C. Morgan; and sisters: Margaret M. Carnes, Shirley M. Davis and Patricia Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Seneca Baptist Church, 1080 S. Oak Street, Seneca, SC 29678, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 53 Perimeter Center E Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30346 or to a charity of one's choice.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM, in the Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. There will be no public visitation. A private family entombment is planned at the Heritage Memorial Gardens' Mausoleum.
