SCALES, C. Douglas "Doug"

Charles Douglas "Doug" Scales, 86, entered into rest on August 27, 2025, at Sunrise Senior Living, Buckhead. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, November 22, at St. James United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

Born February 7, 1939, in Charlotte, NC, Doug was married for 58 years to the late Sibyl Tanner Scales. He is survived by sons, Charles "Chuck " Douglas Scales, Jr. (Culver), and Brian Patrick Scales (Molly); grandchildren, Dylan, Brody and Mary Pearson Scales; and step-grandchildren, Will, Henry and George Smalley; and sister, Mary Frances Bennett. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey Dean Little Scales and Forest G. Scales; his brother, Forest G. Scales, Jr.; and sister, Doris Vermelle Scales Gomery.

Doug was a proud Georgia Tech alumnus and spent more than 35 years working as an engineer in the telecommunications industry for AT&T, Western Electric and Lucent Technologies. He loved the outdoors and was a dedicated adult leader in the Boy Scouts, serving in various leadership roles in Troop 370 (St. James UMC), the North Atlanta District and the Atlanta Area Council. At the time of his death, Doug had been a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James United Methodist Church and earmarked for Boy Scout Troop 370, 4400 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA 30342.
