Caleb "Cappy" Kale Horton Sr., 82, of South Boardman, MI, passed away on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, at Munson Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Cap was born on November 22nd, 1942, in Marine City, the son of the late Caleb III, and Helen (Smith) Horton. Cap met the love of his life on the Nolff farm. He fell in love with the farmer's daughter. He built his home from the ground up, where he and his wife raised 4 children and one grandchild. He was happily married for 52 years. Before moving north, he was a merchant marine, sailing the Great Lakes for great periods of time, as well as a police officer. He moved north where he worked in the oilfields, as well as volunteering as a firefighter, he finally retired in 2000 as an oilfield truck driver. In his younger years he enjoyed riding his Harley, and fishing in the St. Clair River. He loved getting outdoors, whether that be for rifle season, or a simple side by side ride with his family. At home he liked to garden with his wife, listen to classic country, and watch Westerns. He also had a knack for woodworking, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family, and his Sunday morning coffee with his boys. Cap also looked forward to his trips down to Ebels, browsing the wide variety of goods. Cappy will be missed by all and remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Susan; son Caleb (Cappy) Horton (Tammy); daughters Shelle (Elmond) Allocco, Krystal (Randy) Tinker, and Danielle Horton; sister Donna (Wally) Evans; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; 10 siblings; several nieces and nephews; and 1 great-granddaughter. His family wishes to remember him privately. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
