James W. Horton

GREEN ISLAND James W. Horton, 66, passed away peacefully Monday, February 5, 2024 at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Coventry, Rhode Island, Jim was the son of the late Robert and Nannette deTonnancourt Horton. He grew up in Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School. Following high school, he owned and operated the former Danny's Restaurant on the corner of Columbia and Lancaster Streets for a brief time. He then moved to Green Island where he raised his family and resided for most of his life. He had been employed at Advance Technologies in Clifton Park for many years until his retirement.
Jim always enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially loved taking rides on his Harley Davidson. He also liked to cook, play softball and watch his favorite team, the New Orleans Saints.
Jim loved his family. He is survived by his four children, Joshua Horton (Tara) of Valatie, Sarah Horton of Green Island, Jamie Horton (Jenna) of Brunswick and Taylor Horton of Albany; by his sister, Colleen Downey (Russ) of Latham and his brother, Jack Horton (Debbie) of Coventry, RI; by his eight grandchildren, Austin, Lily, Aden, Mackenzie, Natalya, Kais, Saint and Shai, and by his great grandson, Zayden. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Lisa Hebert as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service.
