At the age of 20, in 1972, Calli and I spent an epic 6 months backpacking around Europe and using with my Aunt Betty and Uncle Dick's Geneva home as a base for recharging batteries after many adventures. We'd often return to their home in the wee hours after a night out, just as Uncle Dick was getting ready for work. We sailed the Greek islands with other Americans, played endless cards on trains, took a hellish ride across what was then called Yugoslavia, afraid to get off the train to pee but ended up in a paradise called Herzegovina and visited countless Gothic cathedrals and museums. We had less than $5 a day to spend, meaning we ate a lot of street food and gorged when we returned to Switzerland, eventually coming home a lot plumper than when we left. It's been more than 50 years but I will always cherish those memories and months with Calli.

My husband and I have been friends and neighbors with Alan and Calli for almost 22 years. It is surreal that I can no longer run next door to borrow that cup of sugar or share a plant for our gardens. We keep expecting to hear her wonderfully infectious laughter. Most of all for me I will selfishly miss our girl time happy hours over a glass of Chardonnay. We will always remember her with great fondness and miss her immensely. Calli is irreplaceable and we send our deepest condolences to all of her loving family. Rick and Melanie Rodd

I´m so sorry to see this very sad news. Calli was a friendly face and kind heart in the Heathergate neighborhood for many years. I´ll sure miss her beautiful smile and great sense of humor. Much love to her family. She loved you all so much.

Dear Cousin Alan and your and Calli's immediate family,
I read with sadness this obituary on Calli. While I enjoyed
far too little time in her presence--the last time being now
years ago--I was highly fond of her, enjoying her warmth
and her delightful humor.
One of my strongest memories of Calli is when I was with
a group of people, including Calli and my cousin, Jane Teel Wiger.
We were enjoying a meal at then Bill's Chicken and Steak House.
Suddenly, I noted that Calli was quiet and her color was changing.
Recognizing the reason, Jane quickly jumped up and gave Calli
CPR. (I'm confident that Jane's quick action truly saved Calli's
life.)
My chief memory of Calli--and one that's cheering--is her quick
smile and wonderful laugh.
I'm gathering from Calli's obituary that she died of the cruel beast
called cancer. (It took my mother's life at age 55, Linda's mother,
one of Linda's sisters, and what--over many years now--has been
a host of treasured friends and loved ones.
My heart goes especially out to you, Alan. I'm glad though to have the
feeling that you and Calli had a very caring and loving relationship
and my understanding is that, in retirement, together you were able
to enjoy a number of years of interesting travel.
With love and sympathy,
Pat (and Linda) Yates

I really enjoyed visiting her in the neighborhood. She was fun to tease because she teased back and laughed about doing it. It seemed like an inside joke which made it fun. Colleen and I already miss her laugh
