Calvin E. Baker Sr.

Calvin E. Baker, 81, of Toledo, OH, passed away at St. Vincent Medical Center on February 27, 2025. He was born to William and Irene (Plott) Baker on July 22, 1943, in Carey, OH. Calvin was a 1961 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. He would go on to meet Kay Annette Young and they were married on November 28, 1971. Calvin and Kay raised two sons and celebrated over 53 years of marriage together.

Calvin worked as a metal stamper beginning at Toledo Stamping and then working for Toledo Technology retiring multiple times from the agency and working in the industry for over 25 years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and camping. In his spare time Calvin would work local elections as a poll worker. In addition to his work in politics, he also served as a crossing guard for Toledo Public Schools working at Jones Leadership Academy and worked as an usher at the Huntington Center. Calvin enjoyed cheering on both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Michigan football teams.

Left to cherish Calvin's memory are his wife, Kay Baker; son, Kevin Baker; brothers, William and Curtis (Mary Ann) Baker; grandchildren, Alexis, Vincent, and Brent Baker; step-grandchildren, Kyle, Nathan, Ryan, and Robert. Preceding Calvin in death are his parents; and son, Calvin Jr.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A Funeral service will take place on Monday, March 3, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with an hour of visitation taking place beforehand from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital.
