Calvin J. Moore, affectionately known as "Chocolate Chip," gracefully departed to his eternal home on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Odessa, Texas, at the age of 82.
Calvin was born in Quanah, TX, on May 13, 1941, to the late Jerry Moore and Buler Pyles. He proudly served his country as a Veteran in the Army. He was also the first black janitor at Permian High School and went on the retire from Occidental Petroleum Corp. On July 5, 1990, he joined in matrimony with Linda Smith in Odessa, TX.
He is survived by his devoted wife Linda Moore, children Herbert Moore (Ruby), Nicole Shepard (Kevin), Stephanie Hudgins, Justice Price-Moore, Dejah Price-Moore, and Shanell Price-Moore, as well as sons Craig Smith and Clifford Price. He is also survived by his sister Mae-Francis, grandchildren Monique and Andre Moore, Tiffany Gates, Britney Hall, Ashley Gates, Nickelva Thornton, Jewels, Carmus, Canyon, Shylexus, Quashawn, Anthony, Craig Jr., and Coryn, along with a multitude of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Calvin was preceded in death by his brothers Archie, Elbert, Albert, Joe, JB, and Malvin, and sisters Jerinne, Pearline, Helen and Emma Jean and son Howard Moore.
In life, Calvin was known as the sharpest dresser in any room, from his stylish hat to his impeccably coordinated socks. He was unapologetically vocal about his preferences, declaring, "there is nothing you can do about it!" He cherished being the focal point of gatherings, showering affection on his extensive family and friends who were like family.
As his final request, Calvin asked for all women to serve as pallbearers. The ladies honored to fulfill this role include Nicole, Stephanie, Tiffany, Britney, Ashley, Kelva, Justice, Dejah, and Shanell.
Honorary pallbearers include Monique Tianna, Tierra, Kalin, Skylin, Cynsire, Leia, Aryelle, Leilani, and Promise.
The family of Calvin Moore extends heartfelt gratitude to all family and friends, both near and far, for their support during this time of loss.
