Calvin Richard "Dick" Mudd

Calvin Richard 'Dick' Mudd, age 81, of Quincy, died on Saturday, January 17, 2026 in his home. He was born on June 23, 1944 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Rodney and Rose (Ledbetter) Mudd. He was raised in the Quincy area and graduated in 1964 from Quincy High School. He married Linda Paben in 1972. She survives. Dick entered the Army and served at the Berlin Wall. He come back to Quincy as a civilian but then re-enlisted in the Army in 1970. He was stationed at Phu Bai in Vietnam and finished his service in Colorado Springs, in July of 1973.

Dick spent many years as an auto mechanic and tire technician at Delta Tire until moving to Largo Florida in 2001. While in Florida, he worked in security and maintenance on several gambling boats. He moved back to Quincy in 2016 to enjoy fishing the Mississippi and rabbit hunting. He was a member of the VFW and participated in 'Fishing for Freedom'. He also spent many years as Santa Claus in area homes and schools and was known for his famous 'Santa Car.'

CHILDREN: Craig Mudd of Quincy and Chad Ryan Mudd (Joey) of Texas.
HIS AFS SON: Luis Diego Acuña.
GRANDCHILDREN: Mikaeliah Skinner (Kristopher) McKenzie Preuss, Brechlin Mudd and Cailani Mudd.
GREAT-GRANDCHILD: Michael Skinner.
SIBLINGS: Judy Woerman, Elizabeth Mudd and Patricia Lane (Rodney).
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild Adisyn Mudd, siblings: Robert Mudd along with his wife Virginia, Thomas Mudd and Charles Mudd and a brother-in-law: Robert Woerman.

A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 12:00 Noon at St. Francis Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:30 until 11:30 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Private Graveside inurnment will take place at a later date with military rites. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to 'Fishing for Freedom'. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
