Calvin Nelson Obituary
May 5, 1928 - March 3, 2026
Liberty, Missouri - Calvin Winsell Nelson, 97, of Liberty, Missouri passed away March 3, 2026. He was born in Nowata County, Oklahoma and grew up around Guilford, Missouri, the son of Julia Dora (Meinecke) Nelson and Frank Edward Nelson. He graduated from Guilford High School and received degrees (1 Bachelor's and 2 Master's) from Northwest Missouri State University and the University of Missouri respectively. He taught physics and math at Northeast High School for 37 years. He loved to travel and was active in the Boy Scouts and the Community of Christ church. He served in the Army from 1951-1953.
Survivors include sons, Randall, Lee and Kevin and his wife Kim; grandchildren Kaden, Marin and Mckenna; sister, Phillis Davison (Jack) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, March 20, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 21, at Liberty Community of Christ, Liberty. Burial in Glenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church or to the American Cancer Society.
