Calvin Wayne Stanley, 81, of Wolfe City passed away at home surrounded by family Sunday, January 21, 2024. He was born October 30, 1942 in Bokhoma, Oklahoma to Effie Mae Spillman and Henry Willard Stanley. Calvin married Dee Morgan on August 17, 1962 in Dallas, Texas. He worked and retired from General Motors and was a proud member of the UAW Local 816. Together, they had two wonderful children, Paula Renee Waldrep of Dallas (husband, Steve) and Richard Albert Stanley. Calvin and Dee also enjoyed their two grandchildren, Stefanie Ann Herrington of Lucas (husband Challen) and Terry Wayne Moore of Lubbock (wife Summer). However, the light of their lives were becoming great-grandparents to 3 precious boys.Matthew Christopher Lomas of Lucas, Kolson Kent Moore and Adler William Moore of Lubbock. He has a host of brothers, sisters, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of nearly 55 years, Dee and his son Richard. He earned his pilot license where he enjoyed flying his personal planes. Calvin was a member of the Confederate Air Force where he was a chief mechanic for a TBM warbird. In addition to his love for air travel, in his younger years Calvin spent many nights and dollars racing on the Green Valley Raceway in Dallas. He was an active member of the Red River Car Club. After retirement, Calvin spent his time at home restoring his 1950 Ford given to him by Carlton Henslee.
There will be a come and go informal viewing Tuesday, January 23 between 1PM-6PM at the R.W. Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas. Services will be held Wednesday January 24, 2024. Having worked with Calvin for thirty years & spent time with him and Paul at the shop working on the race car among many times at the airport are the great memories I have of him. He took me flying & I helped him build his hanger on Cedar Creek lake, so he could pursue his love of working on airplanes. Rest In Peace, brother.
