Calvin N. Warfield, Jr., 89, of Smithfield, Virginia, passed asway on June 19, 2024 at the Olathe, KS Medical Center. He had moved to Olathe in recent years to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
He was born on September 23, 1934 to Calvin and Helen (Ruffin) Warfield in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Calvin lived in a few different cities in Southern Virginia and Silver Spring, Maryland while growing up, but loved the consistency of his summers on the Rappahannock River near Tappahannock, Virginia. A place and experience he shared with his family while they were growing up.
Calvin attended Hampden-Sydney College graduating in 1956. He was a member of Chi Phi fraternity and established and maintained long term friendships with his fraternity brother. He also met and married Shirley Mae Alcock of neighboring Longwood College.
After serving in the United States Army, where he was awarded a Medal for Military Merit, Calvin stared a career as a sales representative for Reynold Metals before retiring in 1992 and moved back to Virginia settling in Smithfield.
Calvin is survived by his loving daughter, Beth Kohl, son Tyler Warfield, and his grandkids, Calvin N. Warfield, IV (Bo), Jarrod Kohl, Cameron Kohl, Greyson Warfield, Holden Warfield, and Sayer Warfield.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Alcock Warfield after 59 years of marriage, and his son, Calvin N. Warfield, III.
There will be a Memorial Service later this summer at Christ Episcopal Church in Smithfield, Virginia. The family will share details once planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for Memorial Donations to be made to Christ Episcopal Church in Smithfield, VA.
