Candace Ileene Nickelson

Candace Ileene Nickelson, 82, of Levelland passed from this life on November 2, 2025. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland with Michael Jimenez officiating. Interment will follow in the Littlefield Memorial Cemetery.

Ileene was born to Lester and Vineta Couch in Littlefield, TX on August 28, 1943. She passed away at home, after a long illness, in Levelland, TX on November 2, 2025. She graduated from Anton high school in 1961, married and moved to Whitharral where she had four children who she would cherish. She spent many happy years as a homemaker and enjoyed farm life. Ileene worked for Whitharral ISD for 25 years as a custodian, bus driver, and anything else asked of her. She was an accomplished baker and seamstress, feeding and dressing her brood like royalty. Sports of any variety got her quick attention, though she would always say her favorite sport was “Whatever the grandkids or great grandkids are playing.” From baseball to competitive cheerleading, Ileene was front row and ready with a baked treat. She was especially looking forward to seeing her grandson, Will Jordan, play for Texas Tech baseball in the spring. Ileene was a member of Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland for more than 30 years. She greatly enjoyed playing Bunco with the ladies and her weekly games of Chickenfoot with a tight group of friends. Her presence in worship services and play will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Vineta Couch, two sons, Victor Scott and George William Jr., and daughter-in-law, Cinde Nickelson.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Rutledge (Todd), Travis Nickelson (Judy), and Candace Jordan (Chuck); grandchildren, Rebeka Miller (Derrick), Tell Rutledge (Carlee), Shanna Flores, Bryan Tisdale, Skyler Jordan, Will Jordan, Casey Nickelson, Corey Nickelson, Kyle Nickelson (Morgan), and 11 great grandchildren. Ileene is also survived by her sister, Gayle Heckard (Harry); niece, Shelly Schatte; and one great niece and nephew.
