Candace Rene Ruth of Whitesboro, Texas, passed away on November 25, 2024, at the age of 71. Candy was born on August 5, 1953, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Tom and Margaret Ruth.
Candy married Wyman Raper on August 7, 1971, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion. She is survived by her son, Heath Raper, and his wife Margie, of McKinney, Texas, along with her grandchildren, Emerson and Carson. Candy was also dearly loved by her siblings: Roxanne Ruth of Whitesboro, Texas, and Robin Gibson of Paoli, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Terry and Mark, and her father, Tom.
Candy lived in Cyril, Oklahoma, for three years before her family moved to Wynnewood, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school. She was a dedicated member of the marching band for five years.
Her career spanned 39 years in education and childcare, reflecting her varied talents and devotion to others. Candy served as a principal's secretary in Lubbock, Texas, for seven years. She then spent a decade providing childcare in Stephenville, Texas, before dedicating 22 years as a teaching assistant in Whitesboro, Texas. Candy's love for children radiated through her work, and her ability to connect with them made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Candy was a 23-year cancer survivor, a testament to her strength and resilience. She embraced life with a giving spirit, volunteering for church projects and supporting her community.
In her later years, she found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and her grand dog, Seguin. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and her life was enriched by a deep commitment to others.
Known for her warm, fun-loving personality, Candy enjoyed gathering with fellow retirees for lunch and laughter. In earlier years, she painted, expressing her creativity through her art.
Candy's family and friends will remember her as a deeply caring and generous woman who always put others first. She will be missed and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Adam Spore. Candy will be laid to rest in her hometown of Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
