Tupelo--Candido “Cachas” Matias passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was 37 years old. Cachas was born in Guerrero, Mexico on February 2, 1987 to his beautiful mother, Señora Rita. At the age of 14 he immigrated to the United States, and made North Mississippi home. Cachas loved gardening and spending time outside, listening to music, and laughing. He would crack jokes any chance he could— his sense of humor was unmatched.
Cachas was humble, kind, funny, extremely hard working, a great listener, creative, a wonderful problem solver, and a true craftsman. He had the biggest heart with so much love to give and loved his wife, family, and friends very much. His love for God was very important to him. Cachas will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
Cachas leaves behind his wife of 8 years, Jamie Matias of Tupelo; his loving family in Mexico; his step-daughter Ashleigh Burns of Jackson, TN; his grand-daughter Opal Harris of Jackson, TN; his best friend who he often called a brother, Michael Stanford of Tupelo; his chihuahua Brownie Matias.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024 at Pegues, Tupelo. Services honoring Cachas’ memory will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Stanford, Miguel Hilario, Manuel Soloman, Raul Julian, Rodrigo Ganzales, and Tom Norman.
