Candis Evonne (Edwards) Tumblin

August 25, 1956 – August 3, 2025

Candis Evonne (Edwards) Tumblin, born August 25, 1956, in Atlanta TX, passed from this life on

August 3, 2025, at Hospice of Texarkana in Texarkana TX. She was 68 years old and a resident of

Queen City TX.

Candis is preceded in death by parents Eddie G. Edwards and Justine Lillian (Turner) Edwards;

and sister Marian Oliver.

She is survived by daughters Demetria Webster of Queen City TX, and Carmen Elizabeth Tumblin

of Queen City TX; sisters Hattie Epps of Marshall TX, Edna Lois Richard of Atlanta TX, Eddie Gail

Hill of Houston TX, and Shirley Boyce and husband Donnye of Longview TX; grandchildren

Brayden Webster, Amira Tyson, and Jayden Tyson; Frank Tumblin of Texarkana TX; and

numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and dear friends.

Candis was baptized at Atlanta First Baptist Church as a young child and stood strong in her

faith. She graduated from Atlanta HS and spent 31 years serving her community with love and

generosity at Ivan Smith Furniture.

A woman of many passions, Candis found beauty in life's simplest pleasures. She had a deep

love for flowers, sewing, renovating, and she was just as comfortable with a fishing pole in her

hand as she was with a rolling pin, and many weekends were spent casting lines by the water or

stirring something delicious on the stove. Her cooking and baking were more than meals - they

were how she loved, how she showed up for people, and how she brought everyone together.

Feeding others was her love language. No one ever left her table hungry or without a plate to

take home. She had a special way of making even the simplest dinner feel like a celebration.

Candis also loved to travel, especially to places filled with sunshine, warmth, and memories -

Florida's beaches, the healing waters of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and the sweet southern charm of

Alabama were some of her favorite getaways.

She will be remembered for her generous heart, her steady hands in the kitchen, her joy in a

good catch, and the way she made every place she visited and every person she touched feel a

little more like home.

Services will be under the direction of Queen City Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, August

8, 2025, from 5:00pm-7:00pm, at Queen City Funeral Home. A funeral service in her honor will

be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, beginning at 10:00am, at Queen City Funeral Home.

Interment will follow immediately at Pine Crest Cemetery in Atlanta TX.
