Carin Corcoran Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 2, 2024.
Carin Renee (Letourneau) Corcoran, age 48 of West Greenwich, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
She was the beloved wife of the late Christopher M. Corcoran for 19 years. Born in Warwick on November 22, 1975, Carin was the loving daughter of Raymond Vincent and Joyce Carin (Ricci) Letourneau of Exeter.
Carin was a dedicated and accomplished individual. She graduated from Exeter-West Greenwich High School in the Class of 1993 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Rhode Island College in 1997. While at Rhode Island College, Carin focused her studies on elementary and special education.
Carin's passion for education led her to a fulfilling career as a First Grade Teacher at Wawaloam School. She joined the school district in 1999 and has made a positive impact on the lives of her students ever since. In addition to her role at the Wawaloam School, Carin also worked for GEMS-Net at the University of Rhode Island, further demonstrating her commitment to the State of Rhode Island's education system.
Outside of her professional life, Carin was actively involved in extracurricular activities. She served as the coach of the Exeter-West Greenwich Girls Junior High School Soccer Team, where she shared her love for the sport and helped young athletes develop their skills. Carin also enjoyed tutoring, using her knowledge and expertise to support students in their academic pursuits. Carin's dedication to education, her students, and her community made her a beloved and respected individual. She will be remembered for her passion, commitment, and the positive impact she made on the lives of all those around her.
She enjoyed escape rooms with friends, and was a co-owner of Friends with Fairy Dust with her friend Lisa. Her family was of utmost importance to her. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephew. Family vacations brought her immense joy; from trips to Mystic, Santa's Village, Disney World, and most recently, Disneyland. She was happiest when surrounded by the magic that you feel when you walk through the gates. Her upbeat and positive personality brought joy to not only herself but to all who knew her. She believed "Enjoy the little things in life for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things."
In addition to her parents, Carin was the caring sister of Christopher R. Letourneau (wife, Erin) of West Greenwich and Caitlin R. (Letourneau) Blake (husband, Brian) of Exeter; beloved aunt of Hunter D. Lockwood-Letourneau, Bridget M. Blake, Emma K. Letourneau, Callie R. Letourneau, and Colette R. Blake; and loving companion of Thomas Quackenbush Jr. She also leaves behind her four-legged friends, Penny, Jack, Bruce, Clark, and Sammie.
In fitting with Carin's love of living for the moment and the magic of Disney, please wear something Disney, purple, or bright colored.
A Visitation with an urn present will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 4-8 pm in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral home of North Kingstown. A Celebration of Carin's Life will take place on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11 am in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. Her burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carin's name may be made to either the Kayla Jean Ricci Memorial Foundation, PO Box 943, North Kingstown, RI 02852; or the Exeter-West Greenwich Youth Soccer Association, PO Box 615, Exeter, RI 02822.

My deepest condolences to Kaitlin, Bridget, Colette, Emma, Callie and Carin's entire family. Quoting a colleague as she shared with me the tragic news of Carin's death, "Carin was all about her students," and indeed nothing more needed to be said. Carin's loss is immeasurable and her memory will live on in her family and friend's hearts, and in the hearts of all the children whose lives she touched. Sharyn E. Dearnaley

Carin was the best - an easy friend and fantastic teacher. For our family, she was also a Guinea pig adviser. We will never forget when our female pig was suddenly very fat. Carin stopped by on her way home to confirm that she was pregnant - and our other Guinea girl was in fact a boy and soon-to-be father. We had a good laugh together over that. We are heartbroken by the loss of her tremendous spirit - such a light for her family, friends, and community! Carin, we love you. - The Spira Family

I don't know my first memory of Carin but I do know one that always comes to mind. I think it was Jenn LeTelliers' 16th birthday and Carin and I both stayed the night at Jenn's' house. And I just remember the three of us, walking to the URI campus, together, just talking and laughing and acting like teenage girls who were just happy to have a little freedom and goode friends to sepen the time with. When ever I think of that day, I smile and remember our innocence and ability to just be in the moment. No thinking of the future, just being friends. You will be greatly missed Carin

Mrs Corcoran was one of the best educators I´ve known in the two decades I´ve spent in education. She was my children´s teacher during the 19-20 school year and pandemic. She led the way for online remote learning. She was a champion for providing any and all modifications that children would need. I´m forever grateful that I knew her. We will always think of her fondly. My heart goes out to her family. She´s dancing in heaven now as our angel.
