Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Carl J. Bourque, 73, who passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service at 11:30 am.
Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Service. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Carl proudly served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to his country. His dedication extended to his community, where he volunteered as a firefighter for the Parks Fire Department and was an esteemed member of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Posse. Carl served as the Fire Chief in Parks from 1985 - 1990. He devoted his professional life to the oilfield industry, where he was known for his work ethic and camaraderie.
Carl's passions were many, but none shone brighter than his love for trail riding and shooting pool. As the president of the Cajun Riding Club in Parks, he forged friendships that became like family, cherishing the bonds he created while enjoying the great outdoors. A kid at heart, Carl was a fun-loving jokester, always ready with a laugh or a helping hand. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, who brought joy and laughter to the lives of many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sara B. Bourque; sons, Shane Bourque, Scott Bourque Hammon and Cody Bourque; daughter, Meagan Bourque Dawkins (Ken); brother, Darren Bourque (Sandy); sister, June Bourque; grandchildren, Mikayla Dawkins, Garrett Dawkins and Tiffany "TJ" Dawkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Bourque and Laura Belle Borel Bourque.
Pallbearers will be Shane Bourque, Ken Dawkins, Garrett Dawkins, Rusty Bourque, Kevin Dugas and Chris Robin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Bourque, Scott Hammon, Mikayla Dawkins and Tiffany Dawkins.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
