Carl Brown, Sr., 60, of Washington, died Saturday, October 18, 2025 in the Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born August 1, 1965 in Uniontown, the son of the late Fred and Bessie Mae Iverson Hughes.

Carl attended both Canon-Mac and Uniontown High Schools, and went on to work in management at CCI and was an assistant manager at the Family Dollar on Highland Avenue, Washington.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Washington.

He loved music and also worked as a DJ under the name "D J Knight."

He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.

Surviving are two sons, Carl Brown, Jr. and Elijah Brown, both of Washington; a sister, Dorothy Yvonne "Dort" McCain of Washington; a granddaughter, Kinzley Brown; a niece, Tamika (Damon) Sykes; two great-nieces, Jasmine Harris and Whitney McCain; great-great- nieces Alayna "Layney" Peterson, Mirakal Jones, Morayah Harris and Ashley Frage; two nephews, Monti McCain and Elliott Evans; two great-nephews Charles and Wanya Harris, and three great-great-nephews, Dexter Curry and X'Zayveon McCain and Kendrick McCain.

Deceased is a great-niece, Alicia Peterson.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 1, 2025 in the Friendship Baptist Missionary Church, 17 E. Waslnut Street, Washington, PA 15301. Arrangements have been entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc., 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Charles R. Piatt, owner/supervisor and Andrew C. Piatt, director.
