Carl Wesley Buchanan, Jr., 81, passed away September 23, 2025, at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills in San Antonio, Texas. He was born January 30, 1944, in Hoisington, Kansas to Carl and Mary LaVonne (Clift) Buchanan, Sr. Carl married Samia Hefney March 3, 1979, in Madrid, Spain, and were later divorced.

Carl graduated from Hoisington High School in 1962 and continued his education at Fort Hays State University. He joined the United States Air Force, retiring after 22 years of service as a Master Sergeant. Carl had been a resident of San Antonio since 1981, coming from Madrid, Spain where he was stationed. He lived for a short time in Wichita, Kansas area following the passing of his mother in 2005, only to return to San Antonio to be near his daughter, Yvonne. He was employed at Bexar County Information Systems, San Antonio, as a Financial Manager, and later retiring. He was a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas. He loved to be in the outdoors while riding his motorcycle and go camping and fishing. He was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include daughter, Yvonne Buchanan and her mother, Samia Buchanan of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Beverly (Fred) Debes, Janice McKee, both of Derby, Kansas; many nieces and nephews throughout the state of Kansas; his beloved Chihuahua, Honeybun and many friends made along.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Burial will follow at Hoisington Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted be McConnell AFB Honor Guard. Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025, with family present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials have been designated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
