Carl Burroughs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Judkins Colonial Home - Plainfield on Feb. 12, 2025.
The incomparable Carl Wilton Burroughs was chosen by the Lord to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven on February 2, 2025 at the age of 77.
Carl was the oldest of six children born to Alex and Hettie Bell Burroughs on September 3, 1947 in Statesboro, Georgia, later relocating to Plainfield, New Jersey in 1950. Shortly after graduating from Plainfield High School in 1965 Carl was drafted into the United States Army. He served as a medic in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He served until honorably discharged in 1969. After returning home from Vietnam, Carl went on to study Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating at Bloomfield College, Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Carl met the love of his life, Catherine, while working at Allstate Insurance Company in Murray Hill, New Jersey. It was love at first sight. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on April 22, 1978 in Plainfield, New Jersey. From this union, they were blessed with their proudest accomplishments, their two children, son Terry and daughter Ebony.
Carl dedicated much of his career to hard work and perseverance. He was a dedicated service technician and field supervisor at Russo Brothers & Company Plumbing & HVAC where he worked for 34 years until his retirement.
Brother Carl was a member of the Saint James Lodge #201 International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Incorporated and Order of the Eastern Star in Jersey City, New Jersey for thirty five years. He proudly served as Worshipful Master from 1996 through 1998. He dedicated himself to his lodge and Freemasonry in its entirety.
Carl enjoyed spending time with his family members, listening to music of all genres and keeping up with current events. Carl's personality brought warmth and joy to everyone he encountered and in his passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved him. Carl's memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were honored to have had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on for generations to come, inspiring those around him with his kindheartedness, generosity, and unforgettable spirit.
Carl joins his parents, Alex and Hettie, and three brothers John "Billy" Burroughs, Alex "Juney" Burroughs, and Eugene Burroughs in Heaven.
In the hereafter, Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Catherine, his children Terry (Diandra) of Woodbridge, New Jersey and Ebony of Orange, New Jersey. Three grandsons Terry Jr., James Smith III, Kendrick Brown and bonus grandson Desmond Thomas. Five granddaughters, Katerrah, Chatyah, Savannah, Daziyah and Taylor Brown. Two sisters, Deborah Burroughs-Ellis (Quincy) of Richmond, Virginia and Sharon Stepney (Frank) of Plainfield, New Jersey. One nephew, four nieces, twelve great nieces and nephews, one great great nephew, and dear friend of the family Alisha Bailey.
Though Carl has left us, his spirit lives on in the countless memories we shared and the lessons he imparted. He will be remembered as a man of integrity, a person of principle. His legacy is one of faith, love, laughter, and unwavering support. We will carry his memory in our hearts forever, grateful for the time we had with him and the incredible mark he left on our lives. Take your rest, ascend.
