Carl Center Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 23, 2025.
Carl Afton Center, 84, of Greenland, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1941, in Greenland, to Lonnie and Ruby Center. Carl was proud to call Greenland his lifelong home. He graduated from Greenland High School, where his Pirate pride was born and never faded. For the rest of his days, he could be found cheering on the Greenland Pirates and, with equal passion, calling the Hogs for his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. Saturdays were always for football, and Carl wore his red proudly. Following high school, Carl served his country with honor in the United States Army. His service instilled in him the values of dedication, humility, and integrity - qualities he carried into every role he held in life. On October 7, 1961, Carl married the love of his life, Shaaron. For 64 years, they shared a marriage marked by steadfast devotion, laughter, and an unwavering bond. Their love and devotion were a shining example to family and friends alike of true commitment and partnership. Carl lived for the simple joys that gave life meaning - fishing on a quiet morning, watching a ball game, and spending time with those he loved most. Family was always at the center of his world. He delighted in cheering for his grandchildren and lending a steady hand to anyone who needed it. He was also a man of deep faith-living his life for Christ and exuding those biblical values each and every day. Carl was dedicated to his church and community, where he was admired, respected, and loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Ruby Center; his three siblings, Randy Center, Reba Squirrel, Cheryl Bramlett; and his daughter, Trina Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Shaaron; his daughter, Lisa Vaughn, and her husband, Wes of West Fork, AR; his son, Brian Center, and his wife, Pam of Fayetteville, AR; along with his 11 cherished grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one additional due later this year, each of whom brought him immeasurable pride and joy. To know Carl was to know kindness, faith, and quiet strength. He was a constant source of encouragement and a reminder of what it means to live generously, love deeply, and walk humbly. His legacy will live on in the lives of all who were blessed to know him, and his absence leaves a void that words cannot fill. We find peace in knowing that he now rests in the arms of the Lord, where there is no pain, only joy everlasting. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 25, at 2PM at First Baptist Church in Greenland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carl's memory to Washington Regional Hospice, whose compassion and care provided great comfort in his final days.
