Carl Feil Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bowser Family Funeral Home - Mena on Jan. 2, 2026.
Carl William Feil, age 87, of Mena, Arkansas, passed from this life into eternal life on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas surrounded by his family. He was born on Sunday, October 23, 1938 to William and Ruth (Doede) Feil in Chicago, Illinois.

Carl spent his teenage years in Florida, graduating from Pompano Beach in 1957. He served in the United States Coast Guard for 25 years, retiring as a CWO4. The USCG allowed him to be stationed in many locations; he and his wife, Phyllis, were especially fond of Alaska. In 1981, while visiting some friends in the Mena area, he was taking a ride around Lake Wilhelmina and found the place they were meant for; he retired a few months later. Carl served as a volunteer firefighter for the Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He had three associate degrees from the local community college; including a degree in mechanics which he put to use. He was artistic, creative, and quite the craftsman.

Carl loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone. He was an active member of Dallas Avenue Baptist Church and a member and long time volunteer of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. He had a special call to the prison ministry, and served on prison teams both with the church and CMA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary; daughter, Carla Flowers; and grandson, Jacob Flowers.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Phyllis Feil of Mena; two sons, Lee and Samantha Feil of Bartlett, Tennessee, and Lief and Darby Feil of Mena; one daughter, Katheryn and Stephen Morris of Cove; grandchildren, Jennifer, Erin, Shelbi, Danielle, Dylon, and Isaac; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

His legacy of faith and love will forever light our path. Rest in peace, Carl, we love and miss you.

A Life Celebration Service and Internment at the Fort Smith National Cemetery for Carl is pending.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.
