Carl J. Gennette, 78, a talented artist of Holly, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Detroit to Carl and Frances (Beaver) Gennette on January 2, 1947. After high school, Carl joined the Army and served in Vietnam earning a Combat Infantry Badge and other citations. Carl was a true patriot. For those who knew him, they would describe him as a kind, gentle soul with a great sense of humor. Carl was happiest in his second floor art studio and enjoying antiques. For the past 25 years, he pursued his interest in Indian artifacts, Civil War and 17th and 18th Century items. He formed Artes d'Ameriques for over 25 years buying, collecting and selling. He did display windows and later was employed at Boos Gallery for several years. His memory will be kept alive by Joe Beach and his "friends with antiques and antique friends". Carl is survived by his loving, devoted and cherished wife, of over 20 years, Beverly (Glomski) Gennette who he referred to as his "country girl". They enjoyed many special times together antiquing, watching the Red Wings and Wheel of Fortune and FOX news with their dog Wee Bitz In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Carol Klaus and Jeanne (Gary) Norfleet (Gary) along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Rosemary Klaus. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his cousin, David A. Beaver and his son, David M. Beaver (#1 Cuz). There will be a Military Graveside ceremony on Thursday, May 15th, 2PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442.
