Mr. Carl Wilson Hanks, age 81 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Dyer Nursing Home. A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Hanks will be conducted Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2PM in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Roberson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 12PM until service time at 2PM.
He was born February 9, 1943, in Dyer, TN; the son of the late Floyd W. & Lily Mae (Riggins) Hanks. He retired from the TN Department of Agriculture as a pesticide inspector. Carl was a member of Old Bethlehem Baptist Church and loved to help people. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed building muzzleloaders. He was known as “Bee-Man” as he was a beekeeper and starting Hank’s Honey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Hanks; two daughters, Beverly Stephens, Lorie (Niel) Williams; three grandchildren, Sean Stephens, Chelsea (AJ) Rhea, Emma Williams; and two great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Rhea, and Marshall Rhea.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Old Bethlehem Baptist Church.
