Gordon Funeral Service & Crematory - MonroeDr. Carl Howard Harrison passed to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 5, 2025, at the age of 91, in Waxhaw, NC. He was born on March 18, 1934, in Manheim, PA. He dedicated his life to serving as a Bible translator, notably living and working in Brazil, where he, together with a team of Guajajara believers, translated the whole Bible into the Guajajara language. He was married to Carole Harrison for 67 years. As a couple they served in ministry to both Brazilian nationals and tribal groups in Brazil, training a whole generation of Brazilians in the skills needed to analyze and learn a minority language, develop an alphabet, produce reading material, teach literacy, and do good quality Bible translation. Dr. Harrison is survived by his wife, five children-Bruce, Alec, Kathryn, Ken, and Sherlyn-fifteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Ele nasceu no dia 18 de março de 1934, em Manheim, na Pensilvânia nos Estados Unidos. Ele dedicou sua vida ao trabalho de tradutor da Bíblia, vivendo e atuando principalmente no Brasil, onde, junto com uma equipe de crentes guajajaras, traduziu a Bíblia completa para a língua guajajara. Ele foi casado com Carole Harrison por 67 anos. Como casal, eles serviram num ministério tanto para brasileiros indígenas quanto para brasileiros não-indígenas, treinando gerações em habilidades necessárias para analisar e aprender uma língua minoritária, desenvolver um alfabeto, produzir material de leitura, alfabetizar e fazer traduções bíblicas de boa qualidade. O Dr. Harrison deixa esposa e cinco filhos - Bruce, Alec, Kathryn, Ken e Sherlyn - quinze netos e dezesseis bisnetos.
