Carl Edward Hayes, Sr. age 87 of Selma, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma.

He was born in Chilton County, Alabama on February 24, 1937 to the late Alonza W. Hayes and the late Mary Frances Short Hayes. 

Mr. Hayes retired from International Paper as a millwright. He also served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his children, Frances Patterson, Carllene Strickland, Edward Hayes (Katie), and Glen Hayes (Teresa); grandchildren; Heather Jackson (Trent), Hannah Franklin (Ronnie), Chad Hayes (Brandi), MyKayla Hayes, Tyler Thrash, and Ashley Evans; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Headley Hayes and his parents. 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande, Alabama with the Rev. Larry Stover and Rev. James Kramer officiating. 

There will no visitation, everyone please meet in the cemetery.
