Carl Vincent Hellige, 89, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Southeast Iowa regional Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. He was born on January 29, 1936 in Fort Madison, IA to George & Anna Hoenig Hellige & graduated from Catholic Central High School. He married Roberta Gittings and they later divorced. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Iowa Trappers Association, the National Trappers Association and was a six-time world champion coyote trapper in New Mexico. He loved to hunt, fish, trap, work and spend time with his grandchildren. He owned and operated his own residential electrical business, Carl's Electric, for more than 40 years.
Carl is survived by: 2-sons: Greg (Dawn Fullhart) Hellige of Fort Madison, IA & John (Amy) Hellige of Fort Madison, IA; 3-grandchildren: Matt (Annabelle) Hellige, Mary Hellige & Luke Hellige all of Fort Madison, IA; several nieces & nephews; his companion: Carolyn McMillen of Fort Madison, IA & her children: Kevin, Keith & Kurt McMillen and a granddaughter: Cheyenne McMillen. He was preceded in death by: his parents, 5-brothers & 2-sisters: Evelyn Davis, Bernard, Robert, Raymond, Richard, Ralph Hellige & Dorothy Parrott.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. He will be cremated following the visitation. The memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in Fort Madison.
