Carl Issel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Christy Funeral Home - Millville on Dec. 13, 2025.
Carl Issel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the age of 80. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he lived in Gloucester City, NJ, Voorhees, NJ, and Clementon, NJ, before recently moving to Millville, NJ.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Issel, who stood by his side throughout their 56 years of marriage. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Michael Issel (Stacy), Erik Issel (Kimberly), Kristopher Issel, and Jennifer Issel. Carl was a proud grandfather to Jessia, Julia, Colin, Aubrie, Addison, Emma, and TJ, who were the light of his life.
He is also survived by his brother, Fred Issel (Linda), who shared many cherished memories with Carl over the years. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Ann Issel, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
Carl served his country with honor in the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked as a Philadelphia Police Officer for several years. Later, he found fulfillment in his role as a courier for Quick Courier Service in Philadelphia, PA.
A man of varied interests, Carl had a deep appreciation for big band music and the timeless voice of Frank Sinatra. He enjoyed playing cards and the occasional trip to the casino, where he relished the thrill of the game. Carl also loved spending time "down the shore," creating countless memories with his family by the ocean.
Above all, Carl's family was his greatest joy. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His love and dedication to his family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
Cremation arrangements for Carl Issel have been entrusted to Christy Funeral Home and will be held privately. His family invites those who knew and loved Carl to share a memory or condolence on his tribute wall.
