Carl,

Time has since past, but you are not forgotten. As someone who worked with you closely at Hickam, may God have rested your soul this day 3 years ago. I remember the nights going to the Puka with Bearden, you and me. A weekly getaway, that you would sometime miss, because you were so in tune with your family. Also, the night patrols working Cobra flight, and when you said you would come back and be my supervisor. I was in the desert when you had passed. I was up north in Afghanistan, and when I heard the news, I rejected to believe it. In the end, I know you are in a better place watching over all of us. May God bless you.

Carl, I remember when you'd come into the Flight kitchen for ground meals and how you talked about your wife and at the time pregnant with your first, and how excited you were, just your look alone gave it away! I enjoyed our short conversations, as my shifts were normally very boring. I remember seeing you once in passing when I just returned back from my deployment and you on your way, and shortly after was upset and angry of your passing. This world lost a great person! I know your not where you want to be but you are not forgotten by many that love and miss you everyday, as you are in the Lords arms now watching over us- God Bless

Carl,

I remember the last time we spoke. It was at the 15 SFS clearing barrel right before you deployed. The conversation that we had and your story is a story that I tell my each and every one of my weapons classes. It still saddens me to this day that you were taken from us. I can't believe that it's been this long... I remember talking with you about our kids. Sharing stories about your little girl and me sharing mine about my boy. You were excited about your wife being pregnant and that you couldn't wait to get the deployment over with so you could be there for your wife's birth. I'm sorry that you weren't there in physical form, but I KNOW that you were there in spirit. Carl, I miss you man. Keep watching over us. You're memory will never be forgotten.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the Ware family,
I am a personnelist who assisted the AF in finding a way to escort Chrissie home with the babies her way, a friend. I will never forget how much my knowledge of the career field helped you to go home to prepare to receive your last physical look at your husband. May he rest in peace and may God continue to watch over you and the girls. I have wondered if I had time and given the opportunity, if I could have made a greater difference in your life and ensured that you received all that you needed not just immediately, but for the rest of your lives from the AF. I pray that you are happy even as you raise two wonderful young ladies without the companionship of their dad. God bless.

I'm about to head back to the desert again this time to Afghanistan and was just thinking of my last tour in Iraq its just weird ill be there for the second anniversary of your tragic loss, and I just in my mind keep going back to Camp Bucca to a time before July 2006 when I wanted to go now to the desert now there is this part of me that that is hesitant and a little thrown off. You see this time I’m taking a team as the team leader and am as much as I liked to not admit I’m a little scared. I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear Christine and Ware Ohana,
I wrote a poem that I thought you might take comfort in...

much alohas
Wooderson Ohana

Angels Wings: A poem for loved ones lost:

You left without a warning, you didn’t say goodbye
I had no time to hold you, only time to cry
I was right beside you, even as you drifted far away
Did you hear my hearts prayer? Did you hear me say?
That you will always be in my heart beside me
Death has no power on souls alive and free
I see you in my children’s smile, in all the little things
When I’m alone I feel wrapped up, in your angel’s wings
At first I was so angry, how could you be gone?
We never saw this coming, and it feels so very wrong
I saw us growing old together, sharing memories for years
Now all I am left with are past memories and my fallen tears
Yet you are always in my heart beside me
Death has no power on your soul, alive and free
I see you in our children’s smile, in all the little things
When I’m alone I feel wrapped up, in your angel’s wings.
The rain falls gently and feels like teardrops from above
I know as they touch my cheek, that you weep to show your love
You weep to be with us, you weep for the time gone by
Yet I know someday we will be together again, you and I
For you will always be in my heart beside me
Death has no power over souls alive and free
I see you in our children’s smile, in all the little things
I’m never truly alone when I am wrapped up, in your angel’s wings.

Christine,

I just found this wonderful guestbook on the web. First of all, Meg and I would like to express my deepest sympathy to you, the girls, your family, and Carl's family. This guest book shows how well liked and respected Carl was. I attended Carl's memorial service at Hickam and it was truly a wonderful service. I'm not ashamed to say that I shed many tears at his memorial, along with many others in the Hickam community. May Carl's love and memories be with all of us forever. Your friend always. Please stay in touch.
Sincerely,
"Dez"

Hi Carl,

I know you're watching all this and over your wife and beautiful daughters. They are beautiful! With all that's going on, I know so many of us would just want to talk to you. Find out from YOU what you think. Sometimes it's all so much to take in.

Chrissy's my girl. We're gonna get thru everything. Don't you worry, you can count on that.

You live on in our hearts forever. You've touched us all. And for that we are forever grateful.

Someday we'll all party together again, k?

I would like carl's family to know they are in my prayers. i used to work with carl for a short time on flight before i was deployed. from the little i did know carl he was a great guy, caring, funny, sarcastic, but most importantly there when you needed him. i wish i would have had the pleasure of knowing him on a more personel basis. As an honor to carl i have a wall in my dorm room dedicated in his memory and sacrafice to our country and will never be forgotten. To all of carl's family god bless.

Carl's family,
I know holidays are the hardest but just know that he's looking down on you and wishing you guys the best. I knew Carl from school, in fact I sat next to him in all classes we had together because of our last names so we got to know each other a little bit. The last time I saw him was sitting next to him at graduation. He was a wonderful person and I'm sure a wonderful father. I'm sorry for your loss.

On December 10, 2006 the Annual "Trek To the Tree" ceremony which has been held every year on the 2ND Sunday of December for 81 years honoring all veterans, especially those who have given their lives in service of our country, honored Carl Jerome Ware, Jr, an Airman who was killed in Iraq on July 1, 2006. He was stationed at Hickam AFB in Hawaii until his deployment in May 2006. We as his parents were proud to be able to place a picture of Carl and his daughter at the base of the General Grant Tree in Sequioa National Park. This picture was given afterwards to the U. S. Park Services and will be proudly displayed in the Kings Canyon/Sequioa Parks Visitor Center to be seen by the thousands of visitors to the park each year. We want more than anything that his memory will live on and he will not be forgotten.

Today is Thanksgiving and I cannot help but feel a like something is missing. Carl was a wonderful husband and an even better father. We will love and miss him forever. I am thankful for the time that I was able to spend with him and thankful that he choose me to spend his life with and to have his child. I want to thank everyone for their love and support and ask that you please remember those who are serving away from their families during the holidays.

Veteran’s Day, 2006

Today is a day to honor and recognize the sacrifices and service of America’s veterans, and as his father I could not let it go by without a testimonial to our son, Airman 1st Class Carl Jerome Ware, Jr. The investigation into his death in Iraq still continues. It leaves us with some unanswered questions. Those questions will be answered soon we hope. However, about our son’s character, commitment and dedication to the security forces he served, there is no question. Every word we have heard, from the investigators, the prosecutor, and so many others whose lives he touched, has been of admiration and praise for his example and leadership. As one of his team members had put it, “Carl had a way of doing or getting what I needed without even being asked”. That was our Carl, doing what he knew was right without being asked. And he did it always with a laugh and a smile, with words of encouragement for his fellow airmen. Not a day goes by that we don’t painfully feel his loss. We again want to thank everyone for your prayers and support.

God bless our servicemen and veterans!
The Ware family is very proud of you!

My heart goes out to Carl's wife and daughter, his parents, his sister and two brothers. I never met Carl. I served in Vietnam with the Air Force Security Police and Carl's death shall not be forgotten by me and many other former Air Force personnel who never had the pleasure to meet him -- even as the years go by. May God always give his family and friends strength.

I worked back office for Carl's squadron at Camp Bucca. I just wanted to say that I only heard praise about him and what a wonderful person he was, both professionally and personally... I am sorry for your loss and sometimes things just can't be explained, we just have to carry on and take comfort in the time we have with someone. His death was not in vain and he died a hero to many people.

I really don't think a day goes by that you don't pop into my head. My heart broke for you that day. To watch one of my best friends go thru the pain of losing her wonderful husband. I can recall all those times we sat there and just talked about what they did. How they did silly little things that would bug you but just made your marriage perfect. I remember how Carl just lit up when he held Caitlyn. It was so neat to see him around her. Was there ever a prouder dad?

You'll always be family to us.

Dearest Ware Family,

I knew Carl in basic training and tech school. He was truly someone to be proud of. He was always one of the sharpest Airmen on our team. God bless your family and may times get better.
